The 1338 Knights Hospitaller report of Brother Phillip de Thame records the following at the Knights Hospitallers Commandery in Slebech

• Est ibidem unum manerinm cum gardino, et valet per

• There is there one manor with a garden, and it is worth per year 13 shillings 4 pence.
• Et ibidem de redditu assiso per annum . xxxiij li. viij s. xd. ob.
• And there from the fixed rent per year £33 8s. 10½d.
• Sunt etiam ibidem Iiij. acre terre que valent per annum, pretium
  acre viij d xxxv s. iiij d.
• There are also 54 acres of land there, which are worth per year, at the price of 8d per acre, 35s. 4d.
• Sunt etiam ibidem ij. gurgites qui valent per annum . . . xl s.
• There are also there 2 fishponds, which are worth per year 40s.
• Confraria ibidem valet per annum in comitatu Penebrigg . xx li.
• The fraternity there is worth per year, in the county of Pembroke, £20.

• Likewise at Minwear 3 carucates of land, at the price of 60s. per carucate, and they are worth £9.

• Likewise, the church of Wiston, with one carucate of land, which is served by the vicar of the place, and is worth per year 40 marks.

• And at Clarebaston one church with land from the church’s glebe, which is worth 20 marks.

• Likewise, the church of Waleton is worth per year 16 marks.
• Et ecclesia de Amelaston cum capella valet per annum . . viij li.
• And the church of Amelaston, with a chapel, is worth per year £8.
• Et ecclesia de Rosmarket cum gleba ecclesie valet per annum xxiiij li.
• And the church of Rosmarket, with the church’s glebe, is worth per year £24.
• Et ecclesia de Anierath valet per annum . . . . xx marcas.
• And the church of Anierath is worth per year 20 marks.
• Item ecclesia Lanelau, cum redditu molendini et fraria Breconie, valent per annum xix li. vj s. viij d.
• Likewise, the church of Lanelau, with the income from a mill and the Brecon fraternity, is worth per year £19 6s. 8d.
• Item ecclesia de Lanstephan valet per annum . . .iiij^’^x marcas.
• Likewise, the church of Lanstephan is worth per year 40 marks.
• Et ecclesie de Rowistich et Stremenrick cum domibus, terris, et ffrariis ibidem, sunt ad firmam de anno in annum, pro xv marcis
• And the churches of Rowistich and Stremenrick, with houses, lands, and fraternities there, are leased from year to year for 15 marks.
• Et apud Swenescli una capella affirmata, pro . . . viij marcis.
• And at Swenescli one established chapel, for 8 marks.
• Et pensiones ecclesiarum valent per annum . . . Ixij s. viij d.
• And the pensions of the churches are worth per year 52s. 8d.

• Total sum of the receipts and profits of the said bailiwick: £307 22d.

The Expenses for the Commandery were as follows:

Inde in expensis domus ibidem; videlicet, pro preceptore, ij. fratrum, j. capellani, et domini Ricardi de INIulton corrodarii, domini Thome de Landstefan capellani, corrodarii, Johannis Samson et Ricardi de Conesgrave corrodariorum ad mensam fratrum, j. armigeri, j. camerarii, j. dispensatoris, i. coci, j. pistoris cum garcione, j. ballivi, j. messoris, j. janitoris, j. gardinarii, j. porcarii cum garcione, j. bovicularii, et pluribus aliis supervenientibus de Wallia, qui multum confluunt de die in diem, et sunt magni devastatores, et sunt inponderosi, in pane furnito per annum iiij^ quarteria, pretiuni quarterii iiij s. et valent xvj li.

English: Reprise. Then for the expenses of the house there; namely, for the preceptor, 2 brothers, 1 chaplain, and Master Richard of INIulton the corrody-holder, Master Thomas of Landstephan the chaplain, the corrody-holder, John Samson and Richard of Conesgrave, corrody-holders at the brothers’ table, 1 esquire, 1 chamberlain, 1 steward, 1 cook, 1 baker with an apprentice, 1 bailiff, 1 reaper, 1 janitor, 1 gardener, 1 swineherd with an apprentice, 1 ox-herder, and several others coming from Wales, who come in great numbers day by day and are great devastators and are burdensome; in bread provided per year 4 quarters, at the price of 4s. per quarter, and they are worth £16.

English: Likewise there, for beer to be brewed, 4 quarters of barley malt, at the price of 2s. per quarter, and 120 quarters of oat malt, at the price of 18d. per quarter. Total £17.

Latin: Et in coqviina per annum, pretium stauri, per septimanam v s xiij li,
English: And in the kitchen per year, for the price of the beef (or ox), per week 5s., totaling £13.

Latin: Et in xl. quarteriis ordei, pretium quarterii ij s., et xv. quarteriis fabrorum et pisarum, pretium quarterii [xvj d.], furnitis ibidem per annum pro distributione pauperum, per ordinationem fundatoris dictorum locorum ex antique, et valent c s.
English: And in 40 quarters of barley, at the price of 2s. per quarter, and 15 quarters of beans and peas, at the price of 16d. per quarter, provided there per year for the distribution to the poor, by the ordinance of the founder of these places from ancient times, and they are worth 100s.

Latin: Item in prebenda equorum preceptoris et aliorum supervenientium iiij^ quarteria avenarum, pretium quarterii xij d., et valent . iiij li.
English: Likewise, in the allowance of oats for the horses of the preceptor and other arrivals, 4 quarters of oats, at the price of 12d. per quarter, and they are worth £4.

Latin: Et in robis, mantellis, et aliis necessariis preceptoris, et ij. fratrum per annum ciiij s.
English: And in robes, mantles, and other necessities for the preceptor and 2 brothers, per year 114s.

Latin: Et in robis et stipendiis famulorum domus existentium ad mensam xvij marce et dimidia.
English: And in robes and wages of the household servants at the table, £17 10s.

Latin: Item in stipendiis vij. capellanorum deservientium ecclesias suprascriptas; videlicet, j. capellano apud Slebech 1 s. et cuilibet aliorum vij. capellanorum, xl s. Summa xiiij li. x s.
English: Likewise in the wages of 7 chaplains serving the above-mentioned churches; namely, 1 chaplain at Slebech 1s., and to each of the other 6 chaplains 40s. Total £14 10s.

Latin: Item pro procuratione et sinodalibus ecclesiarum supradictarum lxix s. iij d.
English: Likewise for procurations and synodals of the above-mentioned churches 69s. 3d.

Latin: Item in redditu resoluto pro ecclesia de Wiston antedicta, x marce et dimidia, et Vicario de Lansteplian qui pro tempore fuerit, in augmentacionem porcionis sue, per annum xij. marce, et est summa xxij marce et dimidia.
English: Likewise in the fixed revenue for the aforementioned church of Wiston, 10½ marks, and to the vicar of Lanstephan who shall be in office at the time, in augmentation of his portion, per year 12 marks, and the total is 22½ marks.

Latin: Et in redditu resoluto, pro warda castri de Penebrigg iij s. et pro teri apud Marteltwy iij s. Summa vj s.
English: And in fixed revenue, for the ward of the castle of Pembroke 3s., and for the land at Martletwy 3s. Total 6s.

Latin: Et soluto ij. magnatibus Wallie, ad maintenendam et protegendam bajuliam, pro insidiatoribus et malefactoribus in partibus Wallie, qui sunt ibidem feroces; videlicet, Ricardo Penres xl s. et Stephano Perot xl s. Summa iiij li.
English: And paid to 2 magnates of Wales, to maintain and protect the bailiwick, against ambushers and malefactors in the parts of Wales, who are there fierce; namely, to Richard Penres 40s. and to Stephen Perot 40s. Total £4.

Latin: Et in reparatione domorum, grangiarum, ecclesiarum, et capellarum, per totam bajuliam Ix s.
English: And in the repair of houses, granges, churches, and chapels, throughout the whole bailiwick, 9s.

Latin: Et in forincecis expensis preceptoris, ut in donis datis ministris domini Regis, et aliorum dominorum, et eundo et redeundo, ad supervidendam bajuliam suam iiij li-
English: And in the foreign expenses of the preceptor, as in gifts given to the ministers of the lord king and other lords, and in going and returning to supervise his bailiwick, £4.

Latin: Et in visitatione Prioris, per vj dies vj li.
English: And in the visitation of the Prior, for 6 days, £6.

Latin: Item in pensione soluta domino Ricardo de Multon, per factum capituli xvj marce et dimidia.
English: Likewise in the pension paid to Lord Richard de Multon, by the act of the chapter, 16½ marks.

Latin: Et domino Thome de Landstephan, per factum capituli liij s. iiij d.
English: And to Lord Thomas de Landstephan, by the act of the chapter, 3s. 4d.

Latin: Item Johanni Samson, per factum capituli …. liij s. iiij d.
English: Likewise to John Samson, by the act of the chapter, 3s. 4d.

Latin: Et Ricardo de Conesgrave, per factum capituli . . liij s. iiij d.
English: And to Richard de Conesgrave, by the act of the chapter, 3s. 4d.

Latin: § Summa omnium expensarum et solutionum cxlj li. ij s. vij d.
English: Total of all expenses and payments £141 2s. 7d.

This meant that the Commandery here made a yearly profit in excess of £166.00 to support their efforts in the Holy Wars. In todays money, this would equate to approx £2.5m to £3million Sterling, Making Slebech one of the most profitable commaderies outside of Clerkenwell.

 Like other Commanderies in the UK, there we not many Knights Present in situ, there would have been 1 Preceptor, in charge of the commandery, and supporting him would be 2 Brothers, and a Chaplain – along with layman working at the commandery.
